Galaxy FDevice Details:
Model: Samsung Galaxy F14 5G
RAM: 6GB
Android Version: 14
Warranty: Expired
Recent Update: 1 November 2024 Security Patch (installed on 4 January 2025)
---
The Problem
Right after updating my phone on 4 January 2025, I noticed something strange:
1. The touchscreen froze shortly after the phone restarted.
2. It worked for only 1 minute after each reboot and then stopped responding completely.
3. This issue repeated every time I restarted the phone.
---
What I Tried
1. Rebooting the Phone:
I used the Power + Volume Down button combination to force a restart because the touchscreen wasn’t working.
After rebooting, the touch worked for about 1 minute but then froze again.
2. Double Tap and OTG Mouse:
The Double Tap to Wake feature worked fine, so I knew the hardware wasn’t completely dead.
I connected an OTG mouse, and everything on the phone worked smoothly through it—just the touchscreen was unresponsive.
3. Resetting Settings:
I reset all phone settings using the OTG mouse, hoping it would fix the issue.
Unfortunately, it didn’t help.
4. Factory Reset:
I backed up my data and performed a factory reset using the OTG mouse.
After the reset, the touchscreen started working perfectly with no freezing issues.
---
What Might Have Caused It?
Bug in the Update:
The issue started right after installing the 1 November 2024 security patch. It seems there was a problem with the update affecting the touchscreen.
Corrupted Firmware:
Something might have gone wrong during the installation process, disrupting the touchscreen functionality.
Software Glitch:
The factory reset cleared whatever was causing the glitch, restoring the touchscreen’s functionality.
---
How I Fixed It
A factory reset completely resolved the issue. The touchscreen has been working perfectly ever since.
---
Suggestions for Samsung:
1. Investigate the Update:
Samsung should look into the 1 November 2024 patch to identify if it has any bugs related to touchscreen functionality.
2. User Guidance:
Provide clear troubleshooting steps for users facing similar problems.
3. Bug-Fix Update:
Release a patch to ensure other users don’t face this issue.
---
Conclusion:
While the factory reset fixed my problem, such issues can frustrate users. Samsung should address these glitches to prevent them in future updates.
