I got two back to back updates, both were at OneUI 8.5 and Android 16.
Strangely first was at android security patch 1 July 2026 and there was another for security patch 5 July 2026. They released new update in 4 days?
The update in question Baseband version E346BXXSDFZG2, Build BP4A.251205.006.E346BXXSDFZG7 has screwed up Hotspot activation (Internet works fine on the mobile).
If you switch to 2.4 GHz it works fine, but if you set up 5GHz, the hotspot simply doesn't turn on. (It briefly goes grey where it seems it is trying to).
I'm only reaching out to know if other users are facing the same bug or have been able to work around it.
Ofcourse, I dont bother to hear from Samsung, I dont buy expensive stuff from them like Apple or Pixel, I know they can't deliver and their leaders don't have a clue on their team maturity. I bet they're going to ask me to reset the device or restart, which I've tried and is clearly indicative of team that doesn't know how to read logs or traces!
Another funny blooper from Samsung. They have a field sub-categories when creating a new post. This field is always supposed to be empty but the product managers are too lazy to prioritize removal of the **bleep** thing. Should you really invest in its products? If carrier network takes too long to respond, or sends slightly delayed tower data, phone gets stuck in a loop (Again it is Samsung!!! ). It asks itself: "Am I allowed to use 5GHz in this exact spot right now?" If it cannot get an immediate, 100% verified confirmation from the mobile network, it triggers a safety abort. To prevent breaking wireless laws, One UI automatically forces the 5GHz switch back to "off." Ofcourse, it's not going to tell you about it when deactivating it, because IT IS SAMSUNG!!!!
So, Turn off your Hotspot. Turn on Airplane Mode. Turn off Airplane Mode (wait for your mobile data bars to return). Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot > Configure. Change the band to 5 GHz and tap Save. Try turning the Hotspot on now
