Why can't we switch from vibrate to mute using volume keys directly?

yes you can slide the volume down key button and let the slider reach till the end and hold the button the phone will vibrate and the vibration mode will be on

but it doesnt go to silent mode...we have to manually press on the option in pull down menu

yes u are right it does not . u have to manually pull down the notification panel and select the volume button

only one plus phones have a dedicated slider button on the side of the phone to change it to ringing, vibrate and completely mute
