Sim is not verified by upi payment app as my device is not purchased in India

Which app you are trying to activate? For the verification, your phone number must be the same as that linked with your bank account.

Even if the device is not purchased in India, UPI apps will work. My phone is purchased from UAE, still UPI is working. 

You need to use the same number registered in your bank to activate UPI. NRI bank accounts will not work with UPI as UPI needs an Indian number to activate.
