option to rename photos/videos in gallery

Hello everyone.

Feeling bad to know that Samsung don't give option to Rename photos/videos in gallery.

Rename option only available in My Files.

I no longer can, either.  No option to edit the name in gallery or my files.

My last update was March 15 2021, one ui 3.1 android 11 and I can still rename photos thru gallery app and my files app.

In gallery app, I can tap on the image that I want to rename and swipe up. I will be given the option to add tag and there's a text at the bottom about the size of the file and it's storage location. I can tap on that text then it will take me to details page where I can tap edit, tap the file name (1st of the three-line texts, above the storage location and file size) to bring up the keyboard and rename it, then tap save at the bottom.

If I know where the folder location is and I want to rename through my files app, I'll just go to the location and long press on the file, tap 3 dots (more) at the bottom and tap rename. It will bring up the keyboard, I'll type in the new name, and tap rename.

I took some screenshots and wrote on some of them to guide you guys but I can't see an option to upload them on this page.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for describing how to rename albums, in my case, on my Samsung Galaxy A42. Users should understand that renaming is now a function within My Files, rather than Gallery.

renaming was very important for me as I saved notes in my phone☹

I tried its giving option to edit but not the name. Even in the files folder it's the same issue.

This was the case with my Samsung Galaxy s8 plus, but renaming is not allowed in the Samsung galaxy s21 ultra. When you select "details" it does not allow you to rename the image, only delete location information.

No such thing - at least on my Note20 Ultra OneUI 3 (snapdragon).

After Updating my Note 10 Lite to Android 11, I lost the Rename picture functionality.
After Android 11, I can't rename picture in Gallery. Even My Files can not allow rename image. Can anyone figure out the solution

On the samsung phone you can still rename your videos, pictures or any downloads. At least it works on my samsung galaxy FE. The steps are

1. Click "my file" app

2. For example if i wanted to rename a picture or video i just put my finger on the picture/video and press the screen to hold it down and at the bottom the three circle dots that says MORE. Then just hit RENAME and boom your done. 😎
