Late to the party comment.  Have owned the A50 for over a year.  And since I'm posting, I'm not happy with the sound.  Although everyone is complaining about the speaker, maybe the problem is the inherent poor quality of sound production.  As far as sound quality for a phone, I don't have a problem.  My concern is music quality.  The rule I've always operated under is, if you need to use an equalizer, you've got junk equipment.  And as to this phone when listening with headphones, equalizer set to normal, the high end of music sounds like your listening through mud.  It just doesn't have the brightness you'd expect for the treble range.  I've tried two sets of in ear head phones and am of the same opinion.  I also tried a frequency test and can hear out to 13 kHz.  However, that's no test of music quality.  I also own Samsung's new Pro Buds.  There is some high end loss with the Pro Buds but, I'm inclined to blame bluetooth for this.  Additionally, when connecting via bluetooth, the wearable app resets the phones equalizer to normal.  Under this situation you're using the wearable app's equalizer which does not show such a great disparity in sound quality between normal and the other settings.  So, may the problem is a simple as replacing the equalizer?
