Galaxy AGalaxy A53 5G camera was not working for a very long time, until recently when I installed the latest software update. I honestly thought it was a hardware problem.

Hey, sorry for replying 3 decades later, I was away. If you're still using the phone and still experiencing the problem, please do this:
1. Go to settings
2. Go to Apps and click on camera App (you can search it if you don't see it)
3. Go to Camera storage and clear cache and data
4. Check if camera has all permissions allowed (photos and videos, microphone, location...) allow all permissions (recommend)
5. Now go back to apps, click the 3 dots and select: "reset all apps preferences
6. Your phone might refresh and send you to the lock screen depending on the model and software, if it locks, unlock your phone and restart it (even if it doesn't lock just restart it, "restart" not reset)
6. Tip: Your camera may not work immediately after following these instructions, just keep on checking (I recommend using the AR Doodle app to test your camera then after that you can go to the actual camera and see if it still doesn't work)
7. You can watch the video on YouTube to see detailed instructions:
