Update cycle confusion

As I received one ui 7 on my galaxy A35 this year and will soon receive stable one ui 8 this year only, so will it be considered as one year of OS update or two?

They are trying to clear the mess that they created with "ONE UI 7"

Maybe because of one UI 7 long delay, they are fixing it. I guess hopefully we get ,two more again, after one UI 8
