It first emerged about two months ago that Samsung has the Galaxy A33 in the pipeline. It’s the successor to the Galaxy A32 that was launched earlier this year. As you’d expect, this will be a mid-range device that offers decent specs at an affordable price.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen more information about the device come up. Samsung is going to upgrade several bits and pieces on the device. There’s one bit that it’s not upgrading and that is the battery.

Galaxy A33 has the same battery capacity as its predecessor

Our friends over at GalaxyClub have discovered the South Korean certification for the Galaxy A33’s battery. It bears part number EB-BA336ABY and has a 5,000mAh capacity. That’s exactly the same as the Galaxy A32.

To be fair, 5,000mAh is a good enough battery capacity, particularly for a mid-range device. So Samsung has essentially taken the approach of not trying to fix something that’s not broken. The 5,000mAh battery was enough for the Galaxy A32. No reason why it shouldn’t be enough for the Galaxy A33.

However, Samsung is making one change on the device that some fans may not like. Leaked Galaxy A33 renders have revealed that the device won’t have a headphone jack. Samsung is clearly adding the device to the list of mid-range phones without a headphone jack.

The Galaxy A33 will be a 5G-enabled device. It’s unclear when Samsung is planning to launch it. Given the fact that the Galaxy A32 was launched in February 2021, we might see a similar launch timeline for its successor next year.
