Could you please fix the issue with the fingerprint scanner on the samsung a26 5g. I got the phone yesterday (6 Nov 2025) and everything has been working perfectly, I noticed today that while the phone is on charge, it doesnt read my fingerprint, however the sec it is unplugged from the charger, the fingerprint scanner works perfectly. @samsung could you please debug this problem with the new software update or look into it. My phone came with oneui 8 (android 16) out if the box, no Google services update needed or software update. All the apps and everything is up to date, I am somewhat of a tech head, so I have done everything I can and must do to not have issues or problems with my device. Like I say, everything is perfect, it is only this 1 issue I've found.

Hi Mike_Cpt
Here’s what you can try to fix the fingerprint not working while charging issue on your Samsung A26 5G (One UI 8 / Android 16):

---

🧩 1. Check for charging interference

Sometimes the charging cable or adapter interferes with the fingerprint sensor’s grounding.
Try these:

Use a different original Samsung charger or cable.

Avoid cheap or 3rd-party adapters — some cause static interference.

Plug into a different socket or USB port (like from a laptop).

---

⚙️ 2. Turn “Protect Battery” and “Charging Speed” off temporarily

Go to:
Settings → Battery → More battery settings

Turn off “Protect battery”

Turn off “Fast charging”
Then try unlocking again while charging. Some devices reduce fingerprint sensor power when charging to limit heat or static.

---

🔒 3. Re-register your fingerprints while the phone is charging

Sometimes the phone calibrates the sensor differently under certain power conditions.

Delete old fingerprints.

Plug the charger in.

Register your fingerprint while charging.

---

🧼 4. Clean the side/power button area

Even small amounts of oil or moisture from the charging cable hand contact can cause detection failures.
Use a microfiber cloth to clean the scanner area and your fingers.

---

🧠 5. Test in Safe Mode

To rule out software interference:

1. Hold the power button → Tap and hold “Power off” → Choose Safe mode.

2. Try unlocking while charging.
If it works there → a background app or theme might be interfering (like a battery optimizer or gesture app).

---

🧩 6. Disable “Touch sensitivity” or “Accidental touch protection”

Go to:
Settings → Display → Accidental touch protection → Turn it off
Also check under Settings → Display → Touch sensitivity → Try toggling it.
Some charging scenarios confuse the sensor when touch protection is active.

---

🔄 7. Last resort — reset fingerprint system cache

1. Go to Settings → Apps → Show system apps → Biometric service

2. Tap Storage & cache → Clear cache (and data if needed).

3. Reboot and test again.

---

If none of this helps, it’s likely a firmware-level bug in One UI 8. You can submit the log to Samsung via Samsung Members → Support → Error reports → Biometrics — attach a short description like:

> “Fingerprint scanner fails to respond while charging; works fine when unplugged. Occurs since day one on One UI 8 / Android 16.”

Thanks man, I discovered it was the cable, switch from the type c that I was using which was the 1 that came with my grandmother's samsung a05 to the 1 I got with my a26 and it works perfectly 👌
