The Samsung Galaxy A8+ (2018) has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark database running on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system. Quite clearly, the listing suggests Samsung is currently testing the Android Pie update for the Galaxy A8+ (2018). However, we don’t expect the rollout to begin anytime soon. Samsung is yet to roll out the stable Android Pie update for its flagship models, so it may take several months before Samsung begins pushing the Pie update for the Galaxy A8+ (2018). We expect the smartphone to be updated to Android Pie sometime in the second quarter of 2019. Since the Galaxy A8+ (2018) has already received one major OS upgrade, the Android Pie update will be the last OS upgrade that the smartphone will receive.
The Galaxy A8+ (2018) managed to score 1,533 points in the single-core test and 4,239 points in the multi-core test running on Android Pie. Both the scores are on par with what the device manages to achieve on Android 8.0 Oreo, which suggests Samsung is making good progress with the Pie update for the Galaxy A8+ (2018). Along with the Galaxy A8+ (2018), we expect Samsung to roll out the Pie update for the Galaxy A8 (2018) as well in Q2 2019. What is unclear at this point, however, is if the Galaxy A8+ (2018) will get the manufacturer’s new One UI with the Pie update. Samsung’s new One UI is claimed to be the company’s most user-focused smartphone UX so far. Samsung One UI offers a revamped UX design that is optimized for single-handed usage. It comes with several new features as well, including Night Mode, life-to-wake, system-wide dark theme, and more.
