Picture quality differes when uploading jn Wtsap

Good day Members 

 So yesterday I took pictures with my A31 rear camera , when I uploaded them on Wtsap they looked so blurry but the original picture quality in the Gallery looks fine.

 What causes that? I even updated my Wtsap

Whatsapp compresses pictures and other forums don't compress as much. The way to get around it to take pictures whilst in the app.
