To take slow motion video on Samsung phones and tablets, you have to enable the slow-mo video recording mode first. Different Samsung devices may differ in appearance. In this demo,we will be using Samsung Galaxy S5 to show how you can record slow motion video on Samsung Galaxy smartphones or tablets. Note that not all Samsung mobile phones have the ability to capture slow motion videos. On some Samsung phone models, the Camera app does not comes with the slow-motion video mode. In this case, you will need to download and use third party slow-mo video apps. You can refer to this tutorial to take slow-mo videos on any Samsung smartphones.

Switching between video modes is simple. Just launch the camera app, hit the settings gear and look for “Recording mode” in the settings. Tap that button, switch to “Slow motion” and then select your speed. You may want to start with 1/2 until you get the hang of things, as 1/8 speed produces dramatically longer videos (eight seconds of playback for every one second of recording) and therefore requires more editing. Once you select your slow motion speed, hitting the video record button will automatically start recording in slow motion.

Tap to run the camera app on Samsung cell phone, tap on the gear icon to open camera settings. Find and select Recording mode in the settings, you will open another menu with all available recording modes on your Samsung galaxy phone.

From above Recording mode screen, you can find different modes like Normal, Limit for MMS, Slow motion, Fast motion, Smooth motion. Select Slow motion, you will get another dialogue, as follow.

samsung galaxy slow motion recording speed settings

Samsung Galaxy S5 offers users the option to record slow-motion videos in three different speeds: 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8. Since the slow-motion videos are taken at 1/2, 1/4 or 1/8 speed, they’re recorded at a rate of 60, 30 or 15 frames per second. This means that for every 1 second worth of footage you record, Samsung Galaxy S5 will playback 2 seconds, 4 seconds and 8 seconds worth of video.

To begin recording videos in slow motion, simply tap the shutter button at the bottom of your phone screen. When viewing a slow motion video at normal playback speed, you’ll notice many details that was previously undetectable, such as wine being poured majestically into a clear glass, rain drops hitting the ground.

If you hope to use slow motion in a project, just test it out by yourself. It is so easy to capture videos in slow motion using a Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets, and I bet you’ll like them as I do.

Mute slo-mo videos

Once you have taken videos in slow motions, you can show your videos between different mobile phones using a chat app, such as WeChat or WhatsApp, transfer videos from Samsung to computer for backup. Before that however you may want to mute the videos as they may sound creepy. Just play and listen to it by yourself, you will know that I mean. You can export the slo-mo videos to PC and mute the videos using Windows Movie Maker which was pre-installed in Windows OS.

💙Love you Samsung 💙~raj
