Starting with its build, the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) features a metal body with glass at the front and the back. Although we aren’t sure, we think the glass on both the sides is the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. All the three color variants of the Galaxy A9 (2018) have a color gradient on the back, which makes the device looks very attractive, at least in the images.
The device features a large, 6.3-inch Super AMOLED screen with Full HD resolution. Following 2018’s trend of maximizing screen to body ratio, the display has a bezel-less design. Fortunately, though, there is no notch unlike on most other smartphones in the price range. The Galaxy A9 (2018) is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, which isn’t the fastest SoC in the price segment, but it still has enough processing power to handle day to day tasks without any hiccups.
The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo powered by Samsung Experience 9 UI. The main highlight of the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is its 24MP 8MP 10MP 5MP quad-camera setup at the back. The 24MP sensor is the main camera, which has 27mm FoV in 35mm equivalent film, and phase-detection autofocus. The 8MP sensor has wide-angle FoV for capturing a wider area. A 10MP sensor is a telephoto unit with 2x optical zoom which enables you to capture distant objects with more clarity, while the 5MP camera sensor is a depth-sensing unit for portrait photos. Doing the selfie duty is a 24MP unit.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018) is powered by a 3800mAh battery, which I think is a decent capacity for a smartphone of this caliber. Although, a larger battery would have been really great. Nonetheless, there is Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charing to quickly top-up the battery. Also on board are all the new connectivity features such as USB Type-C port, Bluetooth v5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, and 4G VoLT
