Let us introduce to you the new Photo Editor features available on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7.
Before we dive into the details, please keep the following in mind:
[Things to know before using the new function]
- Portrait Studio requires Samsung Account login and can be used only if Photo Assist is turned on. You can turn on or off Photo Assist in the Gallery Settings or Galaxy AI at any time.
- This feature uses server linkage to process the image being edited when creating an image or content within the image, but the processed images are not stored by Samsung.
- The image resulting from the use of this feature can only be saved as a copy. A watermark is overlaid on the image output upon saving in order to indicate that the image is generated by AI. The result image can also be saved by resizing up to about 10MP (2688x3840).
- There may be somewhat unsatisfactory results. We will continue to improve the performance of Galaxy AI features and endeavour to provide better quality.
You can use the Galaxy AI feature, Photo Assist, in the Photo editor.
Photo Assist offers three features: "Generative Edit," "Sketch to Image," and "Portrait Studio."
The feature we'd like to introduce today is Pet Style, a new feature added to Portrait Studio.
Entry Point
Photo Assist can be accessed either ① within the Photo Editor or ② directly from the Gallery.
※ You can enter the Photo Editor app via the pencil-shaped Edit button in the Gallery app.
As mentioned above in [Things to know before using the new function], Photo Assist requires a Samsung account login and consent to the use of Galaxy AI features.
Once you've logged into your Samsung account and given consent to use the Galaxy AI features, you'll be taken to a screen where you can use the Generative Edit features.
In the Generative Edit screen, swipe right twice on the bottom menu bar to see the Portrait Studio option.

※ Please note:
- The Portrait Studio feature only appears in photos when human or animal (dog or cat) faces are recognized.
- Even if a person or animal is present, if the face is too small, recognition may not be possible, making it difficult to use the Portrait Studio feature.
Try out Pet Style in Portrait Studio
The previous Portrait Studio provided four styles for persons, and this time, four new styles (studio, 3D cartoon, fisheye lens, oil painting) were added for animals (dogs, cats).

As shown in the screen below, people or animals eligible for Portrait Studio styles have a square appear around their faces. You can select a face by tapping on it and the selected face's square border will turn yellow.

After selecting the desired animal, choose one of the four styles and click "Generate" to see the results.
You can see the generated image within approximately 15 seconds. Click the "Generate again" button to get another result.
※ High-quality photos with the subject facing forward with face uncovered will yield better results.
You can also compare the original and generated images using the "Show Original" button on the results screen.
If you unfold the Galaxy Fold7, you can also view the original and generated images side by side.
