Hello.
We are pleased to introduce the newly added Photo Assist feature on the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra.
Before we explain the changes made to Photo Assist, please make sure to keep the following points in mind before using it.
[Things to know before using Photo Assist]
- As a Galaxy AI feature, Photo Assist requires Samsung Account login and can be used only if the feature is turned on. You can find the Photo Assist settings via the Gallery app settings or in Settings > Galaxy AI.
- Photo Assist requires a network connection to edit images, and the content used for the editing is not stored by Samsung. Some features of Photo Assist can be used by processing the data exclusively on the device.
- After editing with Photo Assist, the edited image will have a watermark applied on it to indicate that it was created by generative AI, and the edited image will be saved as a copy.
- If the original image exceeds 12MP, the resulting image after applying Photo Assist may be resized and saved at 12MP. (If the original image is smaller than 12MP, the result will be generated in the original resolution.)
- Photo Assist is a generative AI-based feature, so unexpected results may occur or the output may be somewhat unsatisfactory.

Photo Assist can be accessed ① directly from the Gallery, or ② via Photo editor.
※ The Photo editor app can be accessed through the pencil-shaped edit button in the Gallery app.
As mentioned above in [Things to know before using Photo Assist], Photo Assist can only be used after logging in with a Samsung Account and agreeing to the use of Galaxy AI features.
[The New Look of Photo Assist]
1. Revised Menu Layout
With the addition of new features to Photo Assist, the overall appearance, including the menu layout, has been redesigned.
As shown in the screenshots above, the menu layout, which previously consisted of three options, has been expanded to four.
The former "Generative Edit" feature has been split into "AI Eraser" and "Move," allowing you to edit subjects with greater precision according to your specific intent. (The "Move" tool enables you to not only reposition and resize subjects but also adjust their tilt.)
'Create' is a newly added menu that allows you to edit content using text, images, or sketches. A new feature has also been added that generates results using text right as you enter, and the previously provided 'Sketch-to-Image’ feature can also be found here.
Finally, the 'Style' menu provides a feature that allows you to apply different styles to the entire photo or a specific subject. The feature to apply a style to the entire photo has been newly added this time, and a total of 9 styles are provided. The feature that allows you to select a specific subject such as a person or a pet (dog or cat) and apply a style to it is the "Portrait Studio" feature; we have added new styles to this feature as well.
2. Improved AI Eraser menu
As mentioned earlier, the previous "Generative Edit" feature was split into "AI Eraser" and "Move."
As soon as you enter Photo Assist, you can go to the 'AI Eraser' menu and immediately select the object you want to erase to remove it. If the photo has objects that can be erased, as shown in the screenshot above, a "Suggest erases" button will appear in the upper right corner. This button can be used before manually selecting the object yourself.

You can select the object to erase by either lightly tapping it with your finger or by drawing around the object.
3. Move menu
The Move menu allows you to reposition objects or adjust the overall tilt of the photo.
It generates an image in which any empty space created by moving of the objects or adjusting the photo's tilt is filled.
【Explore New Features of Photo Assist】
1. Create menu: Generate using Text
When you first enter the Create menu, a screen like the one above appears to help you understand how to use each feature. Since this screen only appears on your very first entry, we highly recommend that you take a moment to read it carefully when using the menu for the first time.
Once you have finished reading the help screen and press "Got it," you can begin using the features within the "Create" menu.
You can immediately make changes by entering your desired content into the text input field.
The Create menu offers a total of five different methods:
① Create with text only
② Select the area to edit and create with text
③ Add an image and create
④ Select an image to add and create with text
⑤ Create with a sketch (the existing 'Sketch-to-Image’ feature)
Using three of those methods, we generated the following results.

Please try using the functions in the Create menu in various combinations, just like this!
※ TIP! Examples of How to Edit Images Using the "Create" Menu
1) When you want to add an object that isn't there:
As shown below, draw to select an empty space without any object, then add an object using text input.
2) When you want to change an existing object:
If there is a specific item you wish to replace entirely, simply draw a selection area encompassing the entire object!
Once selected, enter a text description of the object with which you would like to replace it.
3) When you want to change only a specific part of an object:
As shown in the example below, do you want to change only a part, like a pattern, without changing the cup?
Simply draw a selection area precisely around the specific part you wish to modify, and enter the content you would like to change as text input.
2. Try out the Style menu
As the name suggests, the Style menu allows you to edit photos by applying various styles to it.
Located in the center of the screen are buttons allowing you to select either "Photo" or "Portrait," with " Photo " selected by default upon entering the Styles menu. Applying a style to the entire photo is a newly added feature this time, and a total of 9 styles are provided.
(3D toon, Retro anime, Pop art, Watercolor, Oil painting, Anime, Crayon, Cartoon, Sci-fi)
※ The "Portrait" feature is from the previously provided "Portrait Studio" feature; as before, it is available only for photos in which a human or animal (dog, cat) face has been detected. Faces that are too small may not be recognized properly.
You can find the list of styles by swiping left or right at the bottom of the screen, or view the full list by selecting "More" on the right.
Tips: Is your favorite style stuck at the very end of the list? You can reorder the list by simply long-pressing and moving the options. Go ahead and rearrange your favorite styles to suit your personal preferences!
3. A Seamless Photo Assist Experience!
We have updated Photo Assist so that no matter which menu you use, you can immediately proceed to use other features right afterward.
As shown above, after clicking "Generate," you can select "Keep editing" on the results screen to seamlessly continue your editing experience within Photo Assist.
If you happen to be editing and decide midway through that you aren't satisfied and wish to go back, don't worry!
While editing, you can click the "History" button on the top-right corner of the screen to select a version from the previous stages of editing.
