Past two months I have issues with WhatsApp images not downloading to the gallery. I had complained and they told me that the next update will fix it. The update came about 10 days back, yet the problem persists. Will see if the May update with May 1st security patch address the issue. If it doesn't, it's time to ditch Samsung ..

This issue was there in A series devices and was fixed in monthly patch.

As a workaround, you can use WhatsApp web to access media files.

Please accept my solution if you find it useful.

Man when u open the downloaded pic click the three dots and click save
