Restart the watch (simple but sometimes effective).

Unpair and re-pair the watch with the phone.

Check sensor settings in the Galaxy Wearable app (make sure heart rate monitoring is enabled).

Wait for Samsung’s next patch, since widespread issues usually trigger a hotfix.

Thank you for reaching out. We understand your Galaxy Watch is locking and failing to track heart rate following the recent update. This usually happens if "Wrist Detection" is interrupted. Please try these quick steps:

  • Clean the Sensor: Wipe the glass on the back of the watch with a soft cloth to remove any residue.
  • Check Fit: Ensure the watch is snug and positioned slightly above your wrist bone for constant skin contact.
  • Force Restart: Press and hold both the Home and Back buttons for 7 seconds until "Rebooting" appears.
  • Refresh Setting: Go to Settings > Security and privacy > Wrist detection, then toggle it Off and On again.
  • Update Apps: Ensure the Galaxy Wearable app and Samsung Health on your phone are updated to the latest versions.

If the issue persists, please share your watch model and software version so we can investigate further.

Thank you for your update.

We would like to inform you that Samsung has identified an issue affecting sensor functionality on certain Galaxy Watch models after upgrading to One UI 8.0 Watch. This may cause features such as wrist detection, Always On Display, ECG measurement, and body composition measurement to intermittently not work properly.

This behavior occurs when the sensor related internal values are not correctly reflected in the current One UI 8.0 Watch software on the affected models.

The following models are impacted:

  • Galaxy Watch4 series running One UI 8.0 Watch
  • Galaxy Watch5 series running One UI 8.0 Watch

Samsung is preparing a software patch to address this issue. We recommend keeping your watch software up to date, as the fix will be delivered through a future update. The rollout schedule and version may vary depending on region and carrier.

We appreciate your patience while this improvement is being prepared.

Thank you for your follow-up. We understand your concern regarding the software update and its timing. While we do not have an exact release date for the fix, Samsung is actively working on a software patch to address the sensor-related issues affecting certain Galaxy Watch models after upgrading to One UI 8.0.

The fix will be delivered through a future update, and the rollout schedule may vary based on region and carrier. We recommend keeping your watch software up to date by regularly checking for new updates under Settings > Software update > Download and install.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.
