cannot get in my screen lock and biometrics

i want to add a new finger print on my s24 plus but when i click on it I'm asked to put my screen unlock pin.. which I'm putting correct but it is not accepted and my phone locked for 5 minutes...then when i put the pin on lock screen to unlock phone it worked
