Whatsapp dual cannot choose default app after one ui 6.1 update

Whatsapp dual no longer have the option to choose default application. Open with "always" is always greyed out. Does anyone have a solution to this problem, it is been more than 4 months now and with every update, i am hoping it will be fixed but it is never getting fixed. 

Things i tried and did not work, includes. 

1. Wipe cache partition

2. Clear cache of whatsapp

3. Back up whatsapp, disable dual whatsapp, remove cache and data, reinstall whatsapp and restore backup. 

The third option was the worst, a last resort i tried as told by samsung support, always this did not work. 

Any help, or anyone facing this problem, or have a fix, please let me know.
