I ordered it online from a reputable electronics shop. It was brandnew, boxed

Your phone is a US version so you won't get updates automatically in your region, you'll need to update it manually

I'm not into these things anymore but I would suggest you can first try changing the CSC to your region if possible(so that you don't have to install the software manually) , you can follow this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e2DbpGOMMI&t=80s

Otherwise you can go to www.samfw.com and search for the latest version manually and it has instructions there as well

I have a US, a U1 is US unlocked, you should get updates just fine my s22 ultra is US unlocked S908U1 too.... the problem with your device is it is between 2 software versions.... if you check you have EXK4, EXK4 & EXK6, Somehow something happened there it should be like this check how my current version is1742830937074.jpg

Go to sammobile https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/archive/ check your device model number and csc, use it to download the latest firmware (you'll need to create an account first)..... then now you'll need Odin https://odindownload.com/mobile/, a tool for loading firmware onto your device... Download these then get in touch and I'll assist with what to do next
