S10+ (exynos) wouldn't detect channel 149 except when it is on flight mode. Any workaround to this issue?

I cannot change the channel of the router as it is fixed by Google. I think once my phone is on flight mode, my SIM card is disabled so my phone doesn't know in which country it is being used and so it can detect all 5ghz channels. But once flight mode is disabled and I reconnect to the wifi it would never detect channel 149.

Oman. I know that channel 149 is not used here but with the flight mode trick, I could connect to it. So I'm looking for a way to workaround the regional limitations. The speed difference between 2.4 and 5ghz is huge for me so I need to connect to 5ghz.

did you try to flash a different firmware (for example Canada firmware) to your phone ..
please note, flashing your phone will void the warranty.

My phone is already out of warranty. I don't think a firmware would fix it. I think it has something to do with my SIM. when I don't have SIM in my phone, I can connect to channel 149. With the SIM, I can't.

the point with flashing, you will change the country specific code or (carrier specific code) (CSC), which may help to remove the ban of the allowed frequency ranges for wifi.
I am not sure about that .. but just try it after backing up your data.
