Hey guys, I have a question about charging my phone. I have the S24 Ultra and I'm curious to know which is better: charging the phone once every two days, but the battery usually drops below 20% and sometimes may drain completely, or charging the phone every day to 80%?

I charge my phone to 80% by using Battery protection. It gets me through the day, and for the Galaxy S24 Ultra with 7 years of support you should too.
You can let the battery drop below 20% it won't damage anything because of newer battery technology.

Although for older phones I would not recommend that.

It's tricky based on the way you operating your phone.

But essentially Li-ion battery's operate best between 20% and 80%.

If it's over charged, say 100% all the time the atoms start to get happy and heat up thus killing the lifespan of the battery. Likewise if it's gets to low (anything below 20%, degrading happens)

The sweet spot is 20 to 80%.

That being said, imagine you have 1000 heart beats of a life.

The more you beat the faster your lifespan dissipates.

So daily charges can get you to the end of your beats quicker in theory.

Charging only at 20% can extend your time because you getting extra days between charge cycles, that means you not using your "1000 beats" as fast as you would.

It all depends if you bringing your phone to a dead state, then in that case you might as well charge daily.

But honestly, it's a S24 Ultra, the thing lasts for years while charging everyday, just charge daily and it will take you through the next phone upgrade cycle in 2 or 3 years times (depending on your contract or pocket) with not even a 10% degrading of battery life.

Keeping your battery above 20% and charging your phone as least frequent as possible are both good measures to care for the battery

By comparison

It's always good to keep your battery above 20% as it avoids losing capacity and experiencing damage

On the hand, modern phones use Lithium ion battery which were made for frequent charges and those phones were optimized to charge at least once everyday. Smart measures are taken to ensure it's health. Samsung themselves recommended keeping your phone above 20% by charging

So I think it's better to charge it once everyday and avoid going below 20%

I don't think below 20 will degrade the battery. Your phone just uses below 20 as an indicator of low battery. In a case where you're far from the charger, you may consider not using the phone as much as when the battery is on 80.
