To block accidental touches, go to Settings > Display and tap the switch next to Accidental touch protection to turn it on.

You can also use the fingerprint scanner

You could, of course, go back to the "old method" and use a pin code

On the Settings app:

Lock screen and AOD → Screen lock and biometrics → Fingerprints

And turn this off
