Galaxy SIf you unlocked your phone from a specific carrier, you may need to put that carrier's SIM card back in to receive the update.
For example, if you bought your phone from MTN you will receive an MTN sim. (Carrier tie)
Your phone won't work with another sim, it will only work with an MTN sim and if it's dual, the other slot can be any network but MTN has to be there. Now, people tend to maybe lose or damage the MTN sim they got from MTN. With that matter, you will not get Samsung versions even if you put another MTN sim card. If it's not the one from MTN, you won't be able to update.
But with your matter, I honestly do not know why a flagship phones struggles to get an update. Try to contact Samsung through the members app.🙏
