Ive had this problem for a while now. On WhatsApp it opens my google photos albums which dont have all of my pictures. How can I change it back to gallery?

I also noticed that some of my pictures were uploaded to photos and removed from gallery which is very infuriating.

Any help?

I think you should disable photos and on whatsapp it will ask which app to use for the choose samsung gallery then go to enable photos if you want

Long press on the google photos and then press app info after scroll down I think locate disable then when you go back to whatsapp try to send a photo to someone since google photos is not working it will ask you to use other app for images which would be samsung gallery

I think I get it.

For your first question on how to change back your default photo app to Gallery: the answer is that it's not possible. Unfortunately, there's only a handful of app categories that can have a default app (I think the Wallet/Pay category was just recently added by an update). Also, the display style or UI when you share your photos and files on WhatsApp belongs to Android, not Samsung. That could explain why it might appear that you're using Google Photos instead of Gallery. Otherwise, normally, all your photos should be available.

For your other problem: why aren't you seeing some of the pictures in your Google Photos on your Gallery app? My guess is it's because of Google Photo's backup feature. Google Photo's has this feature that aggressively prompts you to delete your photos after backing them up in Google Drive's storage place. That might explain why your missing photos are only available on Google Photo's and not Gallery. I might be wrong, but if you want to verify and possibly fix this, go to a photo that's missing on Gallery, but on Google Photos, swipe up for extra menu options (on Google Photos, not Gallery) and look for a download button. If there's a delete from the device button instead, then ignore everything I said. If you do find the download button, download the photo, and it should be available on both apps and for sharing on WhatsApp.

Yes this is exactly it, thank you. Its very frustrating because i have some folders in gallery and not photos so i literally cannot share them without occupying my cloud storage on google.

And yes I see the download button, thanks for the help. How does everyone else deal with this?
