We can't hide games icons in app drawer like we can with Note 7's Game Launcher?

yes .. in Note 7 we had option to show only in game launcher

You could see new Game Launcher after Android N is released later on.

Then you can control to enable the feature of hiding games icons in app drawer, on MORE - Settings menu.
