Hi Team,
I bought brand new Samsung A55 256gb smart phone few days back. Now while using Google maps gps signal is lost and not showing the correct locations. It shows searching for gps and gives wrong readings. I have updated the maps, cleared the cache and data of maps, made settings with accurate location, reset network settings, all possible solutions that fixes the issue.. but still not working.

Please help me to confirm whether I have a bad device with bad gps network or any setting or software issues

Update Maps to version 11.143.0305. That fixes the problem.  It's not a device issue.

Hi, I have noticed an issue while using my fitness app. When running or walking, the pace significantly jumps up and down every second. One second it says 7m/km, next second 11, next second 13, next second6. it's just all over the place. Is this related to the location issues described above? Thanks

It’s really frustrating when a brand-new phone like the Samsung A55 starts having GPS issues right out of the box. From what you’ve described, it’s clear you’ve already tried all the common troubleshooting steps—updating Google Maps, clearing cache/data, enabling high-accuracy mode, and even resetting network settings. Since the problem still persists and the phone keeps losing GPS signal or shows incorrect locations, this might be more than just a software glitch.

It sounds like you've already taken the right steps to troubleshoot the GPS issue on your Samsung A55, including updating Google Maps, clearing cache and data, enabling accurate location settings, and resetting network settings. Since the problem persists—showing “Searching for GPS” and giving incorrect location data—it may suggest a deeper issue. At this point, it’s important to rule out whether it’s a software bug or a hardware defect. You can try using another GPS-based app (like facts or GPS Test) to see if the problem exists across all apps. If GPS fails across multiple apps, it could indicate a faulty GPS antenna or chip in the device.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. Based on what you’ve described and the troubleshooting steps you've already taken, it’s likely that your device has a hardware issue with the GPS module. Since software fixes didn’t resolve it, we recommend visiting an authorized Samsung service center to have the device inspected or replaced under warranty.
