Why does samsung claim the battery is 5000mah but it is 4850mah or 4900mah depending on the phone u have. Why doesn't the battery have the full 5000mah?

I haven't taken a closer look at it.
Not area of my expertise, too, but maybe that could be a similar standard that's being used in memory cards. A card could be 32GB but they show you 29.13GB as total storage. Like mine for instance, I'm using SanDisk memory card, works just fine.

I have never quite understood why it's like that though. Definitely something to look up on...

So yeah, thats just my thought. 😅

But what is the reason for not actually giving the full capacity?

Even with a memory card it doesn't have its full capacity this is very odd to me because why not just advertise the real capacity. But some cellphones do have the full 5000mah capacity or 6000mah. Nothing more Nothing less

Over time batteries degrade. Meaning they can't charge up to their full capacity anymore so that number will get lower that the 5000mah rating. As for storage; it's always lower that advertised price because of 2 reasons. 1) the way we calculate mb to gb is slightly off. It's 1024mb for 1 gb. 2) when we format any kind of storage we are formatting it to a specific file format and the format itself takes a little space on the storage. Some more than others (fat32 vs ntfs)

But what is the reason for not actually giving the full capacity. This has nothing to do with batteries degrading faster
