How does one answer a call that comes in when do not disturb is active if the phone screen does not wake up and light up and the answer button is not accessible when the phone rings?

This comment does not attempt to answer my question but only displays your own ignorance. The purpose of do not disturb is to allow one to silence messages, whatsapps and the like but to allow phone calls to come through otherwise there is no way whatsoever that anybody can reach you in case of an emergency. Capiche? Secondly, if you also choose to silence incoming phone calls, together with everything else, then what purpose is there for the do not disturb function? Because then you can just as well switch the phone off altogether or put it on flight mode. Capiche? So a little bit of advice: If you're unable to make a constructive comment, stay off a discussion forum such as this and post on Facebook.

HI, Pilgrims kindly be advised that when you want to turn on Do not disturb mode to concentrate but are expecting an important call, you can allow exceptions and customize what alerts you receive.

1. Open the Quick settings panel by swiping down from the top of the screen.

2. Touch and hold the Do not disturb icon to open up its settings.

3. Swipe to the Exceptions section, and then select from the displayed options, such as Alarms and sounds or Apps.

4. From here, you can add specific phone numbers, alarms, apps, or other disturbances to your list of exceptions.

Hi Tsogo the phone app is marked as an exception and the "all numbers" option is selected. Therefore, the phone does ring when DND is activated and a call comes in, but the screen does not come to life so that I can see who is calling and so that I can access the green answering button.

Hi, Pilgrims kindly be advised that the reason the phone does not come up is to avoid being disturbed if you are busy with something from the phone, however, as soon as you hear the ringtone swipe from top to bottom as if you are checking the notification panel and you will see who is calling and will also be able to respond to the call from there, Samsung, however, appreciates your input, and our team of experts will investigate the possibilities of improving the product functionalities.

Thanks Tsogo, swiping down to open the notification panel is not a satisfactory option. The reason is that when you are not actively working on your phone, like when you are sleeping (which is the time that one usually uses the DND function and in this particular case, the "sleeping" function which is a new function that I found suddenly appears under the DND option now), then you cannot just swipe down from the top when the phone rings. You first have to unlock the screen and then you can open the notification panel. This is not convenient at all under circumstances where one is somewhat disorientated when you are awaken by the phone at night. So what happens in practise is that by the time one gets to the point where you can pick up the call then the call has already been dropped and the phone has gone to voice mail.

My previous phone was a Galaxy A21s and in the beginning when I just started using that phone, this DID NOT happen. When the phone rang at night, the screen came alive and I could easily take the call. Then it suddenly stopped doing that one day. So from then on, when the phone rang at night, one had to **bleep** around in the dark to find the phone, then try to find the fingerprint scanner to unlock the screen and by the time you were ready to take the call, the call was already dropped, as I've said just now.

This is extremely stupid and no argument relating to one not wanting to be disturbed by the screen comming alive when the phone is on DND holds water. If one has already made the choice to mark the phone as an exception when the phone is put on DND mode then logical reason dictates that you have already made the choice to be disturbed when a phonecall comes in! Surely one didn't choose to be disturbed just 50%? It's okay to be disturbed by the sound, but you don't want to be disturbed by the screen also. You would rather battle to find the phone, get the phone unlocked and then finding the answer button. What nonsense! If this is really so, then please tell whoever designed it like this that he or she is smoking bad **bleep** and they should change their supplier.

Back to the Galaxy A21s. Then one day the phone performed a software update and voila! problem over. When the phone rang while DND was on, the screen came alive as it used to do in the beginning and all was back to normal.

Now I've replaced the A21s' with A12's because the 32 GB onboard ROM of the A21s' posed a serious problem and we needed to get a phone with at least 64 GB ROM in order to have enough space for all the apps that we use regularly. I wanted to replace it with an A22 but the A22 is not available in the dual sim configuration in my country. This is a deal breaker because we use different phone and data contracts, so we need two SIM's.

Now this **bleep** black screen problem is back on the A12's!

I checked now, this phone updated to version 11 right after I bought it. So the question is: If both the A21s and this A12 are running the same version of Android why is this stupidness happening with the A12 again?

I work in the security industry and my phone MUST BE ON AT NIGHT in order to enable emergency calls to come through to me from security personnel. This issue is such a serious deficiency and so seriously irritating that I feel like disposing of these phones in my company and reverting back to Xiaomi's with which we had no problems whatsoever in the past.

I need this to be seriously looked at. If this was working correctly, then suddenly became an issue and then, after a software update, suddenly worked again then I don't believe that it's designed like this. There must be a bug in the system that's causing this. We now have six of these A12's and all of them are doing this. I really need this to be fixed, so kindly escalate this issue to someone that can look deeper into this issue. I would really appreciate your kind assistance. Nico Smith.

Rather do this than do not disturb, see if it works better.Screenshot_20220420-040231_Samsung Members_135350_1650420151.jpg

What we do now is this: It sorts out the problem but negates the DND function. What I can't understand is (with both the current Galaxy A12's and the previous A21's), this function was working fine up to a point and then it got broken and no matter what we do we can't fix it. However this is a (somewhat undesirable) workaround.Screenshot_20220420-094025_One UI Home_7391_1650440425.jpg
