A14 unable to connect to laptop via USB

I'm unable to use my A14 as a storage device whilst connected to my laptop.There's no notification that pops up just a charging icon for slow charging. 

I've tried reading up but none of the forums are helpful. 

Any help will be appreciated, thank you

Is the cable an original one that came with the device, if not then that could be the problem.

It's the original cable but I'm unable to do anything besides charge the phone with my laptop.

I think you may need to enable USB debugging in Developer options for the laptop to pick it up and see the storage.

I've tried that but it didn't work

Check under debug options to see if you have default USB configuration. Maybe try "transfer files" option. I have never needed to set that before, but might be worth a try.

You might need to change your cable if the solution of @brendtwp doesn't work
