Hey guys, Just wanted to know if anyone else is facing camera issues with the S24 Ultra. I feel like the photo clarity is quite poor, especially compared to what I expected. I’m also not sure if I’m using the best camera settings available. If anyone could recommend the best settings for taking casual everyday photos, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks!

To fix image soft/blurry photos and over-processing on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, set up your camera settings as follows:

1. Main Camera App Settings Default Photo Aspect Ratio: Keep this set to 3:4 (12MP). Why: The 12MP pixel-binned mode produces sharper photos with better dynamic range in low-to-medium light. Only switch to 50MP or 200MP for bright daylight, steady outdoor landscapes. Intelligent Optimization: Go to Camera Settings > Intelligent Optimization. Set it to Medium (or Minimum). Why: "Maximum" applies aggressive AI multi-frame processing that can make photos look blurry, over-sharpened, or unnaturally processed. Scene Optimizer: Toggle OFF. Why: Scene Optimizer often over-saturates colors and applies excessive skin/detail smoothing. Tracking Auto-Focus: Toggle ON to maintain focus lock on moving subjects. Grid Lines: Toggle ON to help frame shots straight. 2. Camera Assistant (via Samsung Good Lock App)

Download Camera Assistant from the Galaxy Store if you don't already have it:

Picture Softening: Set to Medium or OFF. Medium removes the artificial, metallic over-sharpening edge halo without losing detail. Auto Lens Switching: Toggle OFF. Why: Stops the phone from force-cropping into the main sensor when you want to use the dedicated 3x or 5x optical telephoto lenses in lower light. Quick Tap Shutter: Toggle ON. Why: Captures the frame the moment your finger touches the screen, drastically reducing shutter lag. Prioritize Focus over Speed: Toggle ON. Why: Ensures the lens has fully locked focus before taking the image, eliminating soft or out-of-focus shots. Adaptive Pixel: Toggle OFF (when shooting high-res 50MP/200MP shots). Why: Retains raw optical sharpness rather than combining images via multi-frame blending.

If you feel that the photo clarity on your Galaxy S24 Ultra is lower than expected, the results can vary depending on lighting, shooting distance, zoom level, and camera settings. Samsung recommends keeping the lenses clean and avoiding camera lens protectors that may affect focus or image quality.

For everyday photography, you can try the following:

  • Use Photo mode with the standard 1x camera for general everyday shots.
  • Keep the camera lens clean and free from fingerprints or dust.
  • Avoid excessive digital zoom, especially when the subject is close.
  • For close-up subjects, use Focus Enhancer when it appears on the camera screen.
  • For low-light scenes, use Night mode and keep the phone steady while taking the photo.
  • If you want more manual control, Pro mode allows you to adjust ISO, shutter speed, exposure, and white balance.
  • If you have a camera lens protector installed, temporarily remove it and compare the image quality, as it can affect focus and clarity.
  • For the S24 Ultra specifically, Samsung also provides Camera Assistant, which includes options such as Auto HDR, Adaptive Pixel, Auto Lens Switching, and Prioritise Focus Over Speed. These can be adjusted according to your shooting conditions.

If the photos remain consistently unclear or out of focus after trying the above, the device can be inspected at the nearest Samsung Service Center:
