This is the question. My Galaxy Note20 Ultra touchscreen (as any other smartphone I've owned) works only with bare finger and the sPen. My wife has a Samsung Tab S5e and today I saw my son using the touchscreen with his sock (don't ask)... I got curious and try several materials, including plastic and it worked. I know the resistive touch screen can do this but I understand this is not the one this devices use as is basically of low image quality. I googled a bit and find out the Tab S5e uses sAmoled which supposedly uses capacitive touchscreen technology, so only bare finger should work! Does anyone know why it is working with virtually any material?

Hello Jserpa,
Resistive Touchscreen are extremely versatile, the science behind it, is that there are two layers coated with a resistive liquid. When these layers meet they cause a electrical signal to be send to register a touch from the user.
So, a Resistive Touchscreen can work with any material. However, I wouldn't advise as some items can be sharp and can cause scratches to your device.
Anyways, if this thread was helpful, consider up-voting it and marking it as a solution.
