Are your other sensors working ? Such as the gyroscope used for auto rotate or light sensor used for auto brightness.

Ah yes the famous "sensor issue". This is a global problem across a lot of Samsung phones that use exynos processors including S8,S8 plus, Note FE and Note8 (i have the SAME issue on my Note8 for the past 3 months). The issue occurred to everyone after the Oreo update, if not immediately then it is just a matter of time that it happens to other users as well through a monthly "security" update. Samsung is yet to even admit this issue exists in the first place so i gave up hopes on them actually fixing this. They are extremely lucky no one of major repute ( such as a journalist or reviewer) has come across this issue yet. A lot of us have tried communicating with their support for the past 3 months but they won't even bother passing this on to their software team. They have no idea how big the scale of this issue actually is.I used to actually like Samsung phones in the past but now I'm done for good.
