I have noticed that saying "OK google" from the lockscreen or while the device is sleeping will completely unlock the device. Is this normal or something that needs to be addressed immediately?

You have an option to turn on "Unlock by Ok Google". Make sure this is turned off in the Google app settings.

this is a Google option. It's under smart lock in settings, the tab is called trusted voice.
