Many users have taken to online platforms like Reddit and even Samsung's own forums to complain that they're experiencing higher battery drain after updating their device to One UI 7. A Galaxy S23 owner posted on reddit that they were having to “charge multiple times a day” despite using the device for only reddit and YouTube. Similar concerns have also been expressed by some Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 6 owners.

However, on many of these treads you'll find people with the same and other devices who say that they've felt no change in the battery drain after the One UI 7 update. Some even say that they feel battery life is slightly better than it was on One UI 6. This suggests that there's no widespread issue here that's causing the elevated drain rate.

So, what's the deal? You know how the battery life improved a week or so after you started using your brand new Galaxy device? The device optimizes battery efficiency based on your usage habits and other metrics. Major firmware updates typically reset all of the learning that's gone behind that personalized optimization.

How this materializes may differ for each user hence the variance in experiences that people are sharing. Those who are seeing higher drain should give it a week or so, things should settle down by then.

You are right in part, but you ignored other facts related to the battery draining problem. Those are:
[  ] the overheating problem, which started right after the update
[  ]  slower charging speed (when using a wired charger with fast charging off).
[  ] increased RAM usage (before the update, RAM usage was between 4.x GB and 5.x GB; now it's 6.8 GB to 7.6 GB most of the time).
[  ] The location service icon appearing in the notification area near the battery icon almost every 4 or 5 minutes, every time I use any app.
All these problems might be the reason for the fast battery draining because each one indicates processor overuse, which leads to battery drain. So let's be honest and address the problem as a whole, as they are related.
