Have you tried swiping up/down on the viewfinder screen while recording to access the front cam? Maybe the button might not be there but the option can be hidden as a gesture. Not sure if it would work, just give it a shot.
Actually yeah you are right... I didn't notice it until I had researched about it more just a while ago so yeah all in all that phone is totally worth being cheaper than an M31s
