Hey guys , using Samsung S24Ultra , brought brand new , since past few days it's battery is draining super fast , like have to charge it at least twice a day . First I thought it's battery aging and somewhat is .. but than I noticed my WhatsApp is not backing up chat data on auto as it used to , since past week or so . Tried all the tricks but none worked and forcefully uninstalled and reinstalled WhatsApp . That fixed the problem for straight 02 days and than same issue . Backup just initiates but remains stuck , untill forcefully close the app .. and than too it would try to back up again but won't complete and cycle keeps repeating . Now I am certain , the sudden battery drain is because of WhatsApp .. but I am just unable to permanently fix it . Any suggestions pls ? I am getting frustrated .. and WhatsApp data is important for me coz of work etc . Pls if anyone knows What's happening ? System software / WhatsApp all is updated . Google has ample space . In fact , I reduced the back size from around 11 GB to just 03 GB now . Still nothing is working . Pls help . Thanks .

I have a Samsung S24 Ultra. After updating the software in July 2026, I started having the same problem. WhatsApp takes a very long time to back up my chats, and sometimes the backup just keeps running without stopping. Because of that, my phone gets hot. I have to put the WhatsApp app into Deep Sleep to stop the backup. Only then does the backup stop, and my phone stops heating up.

I think that since this issue appeared after Samsung's software update itself, therefore only Samsung can fix it in its next update, and that is also the hope, because many people are facing this issue after the new update, and they have reported it as well.
My advice to you is:
1. Do not uninstall WhatsApp again now; otherwise, your recent chats will not be able to be recovered.
2. Go to the settings and set the automatic backup to "Only when I tap Backup." Then make a backup yourself once a week. If the backup completes immediately as it used to before, then that's fine; otherwise, stop the backup.
Hopefully, Samsung will soon release a new update that will fix this issue.
