Samsung has started the Android 15-based One UI 7 beta program for its flagship models, the Galaxy S24; however, the update has been slowed down, and there seem to be no signs that the beta program will still be extended to more (non-Galaxy S24) devices. Does Samsung intend to restrict the beta program solely to Galaxy S24 models or will it also include older models? This appears to be the biggest confusion, though.

While Samsung’s history so far says that it starts the beta testing phase of its latest One UI version with the current Galaxy S series models, it is then followed by more older Galaxy smartphones, foldables, and tablets. However, this time things have become a little confused.

Starting from December 5th, 2024, Samsung initiated its Android 15-based One UI 7 beta program for the Galaxy S24 series. This was followed by a second beta phase for the same S24 models, which left other owners of older Galaxy smartphones waiting. Technically, this sounds like the company might have made intentions to not expand the new One UI 7 beta program to more devices, thus breaking its long-running software rollout pattern.

Since Samsung is late in delivering the latest One UI iteration to the Galaxy units this time, the decision for expanding the beta program to more devices may be correct, as this can certainly help the company to start distributing the stable One UI 7 version, which is expected to go live as the Galaxy S25 series arrives, to the Galaxy device portfolio on time without having any further delay.

Last but not least, we previously covered that the older Galaxy units, such as the S23, S22, S21, and A series, will not participate in One UI 7 beta program. Therefore, the question of whether Samsung is willing to expand the One UI 7 beta program to more Galaxy devices remains unresolved. However, discussions with Samsung experts have confirmed that the Galaxy S23 series will not participate in the beta program.

No, that's not the case, the S23 series will not get the beta update in Pakistan, the remaining stable update will be available in February.
