I called samsung customer service today to get info regarding battery cost. And they told me to share my IMEI. And without thinking I shared one of the IMEIs of my phone with them.

Now I'm concerned. Is it normal they ask for IMEIs and is it safe?

& what should I do if it isn't safe to share IMEI?

It was really not needed, but if you shared it with "real" samsung, then it is fine.

Its ok... it shouldn't be a problem. As long as you have the box of the phone with you

Alright. Thanks for sharing the info.

They asked the IEMI to know the exact phone model number, which was not necessary. There's nothing wrong with sharing the IEMI with a samsung staff.
IEMI number when sharing someone not relevant increases the risk of patching your IEMI on some non PTA phone.
