Samsung has released the September security update for one more A series Galaxy device. Users of the Galaxy A15 5G can now install the latest security patch. The company has already rolled out this update for dozens of flagship and mid-range models.
The September Security Maintenance Release (SMR) includes 67 vulnerability fixes, at least one of which is critical. These include issues in Google's version of Android OS as well as in Samsung's One UI. Samsung has been pushing these fixes to eligible Galaxy phones and tablets since early last month. The Galaxy A15 5G is the latest to receive the update.
The device is currently picking up the September SMR in Europe. The new firmware build number for the phone is A156BXXS3BXI1. This update brings the latest security fixes and nothing else, so you should not expect any new features. "The device is protected with a improved security," the official changelog states. A wider rollout should begin soon.
Samsung is currently readying the Android 15-based One Ul 7.0 update. It may roll out to the Galaxy A15 duo in early 2025. In the eantime, the company is preparing to release the Galaxy A16 and A16 5G. These models are also expected to ship with Android 14. However, they will get six major OS updates and six years of security patches, i.e., until a 2030. We will let you know when the new budget phones go official.
