With this One UI 8.5 update, we'd like to introduce the new "Family device sharing" feature that allows you to use your family's Galaxy devices as if they were your own.

◈ Feature Introduction

With Family device sharing, you can recognize your family's Galaxy devices as your own and enjoy a more seamless and convenient cross-device experience.

◈ Setup Method

  1. Go to Settings > Samsung Account > Family and select 'Family device sharing' menu.
  2. Enable the 'Family device sharing'.

* Family device sharing can only be used when a family group is created and the family has 2 or more members, including yourself.

Once setup is complete as shown above, your family's Galaxy devices will be recognized as your own, allowing you to enjoy a seamless Galaxy ecosystem experience.

◈ How to Use

When you launch Galaxy ecosystem features (Quick Share, Auto Hotspot, Multi Control, Storage Share, Camera Share, Second Screen), the compatible devices list will search for and display your family's devices that have Family device sharing enabled. Simply select the desired device to connect.

◈ Supported Features

The Family device sharing feature provides various features as follows.

  • Quick Share: Family members appear at the top of the recipient list, and files sent by family members are automatically accepted and downloaded.
  • Auto Hotspot: Automatically share internet connection with family members.
  • Multi Control: Any family member can connect their phone or tablet to a Galaxy Book and use the Galaxy Book's keyboard and mouse from their phone/tablet.
  • Storage Share: Connect your Galaxy device with family members' Galaxy devices to easily access and view stored files and folders.
  • Camera Share: Any family member can connect their phone to another member's Galaxy Book or Tab and use their phone as a wireless webcam.
  • Second Screen: Use a family member's Galaxy Tab or Tri-Fold as a wireless monitor for your own Galaxy Book.

The features available through Family device sharing will continue to expand.

The names, access paths, and screen layouts of the described features and menus may vary depending on the model, applied software, and app version.

※ Supported Specifications and Devices

- Galaxy Phone and Galaxy Tab: One UI 8.5 or later

- Galaxy Book: Samsung Account 1.26.1090 or later, Galaxy Connect 2.0.14 or later, Quick Share 2.3.22 or later, Multi Control 2.6.1200 or later, Second Screen 1.15.3 or later, Storage Share 1.2.33 or later, Camera Share 2.1.15 or later

- The accounts on the devices you want to connect must belong to the same family group.

- Family device sharing must be enabled on your account and your family's devices that you want to use for connection.

Family device sharing makes connections between family members even smarter. From now on, all family members will be able to use their Galaxy devices more efficiently, and sharing will be even more seamless. Enjoy a more convenient and enjoyable digital life through this feature.
