Hello,
I'm experiencing a persistent issue with my Galaxy S22+

SM-S906U1 camera. Every time I open the camera, I get a "Camera failed" error. I ran diagnostics in the Samsung Members app and it shows "Action required" for both the front and rear cameras (screenshots attached).

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

Cleared cache and storage for the camera app

Reset all settings

Tried third-party camera apps

Gave all camera permissions

Booted into Safe Mode

Restarted the phone multiple times

Software is up to date

Nothing has resolved the issue so far.

Please advise on the next steps or if I need to visit a service center. Thank you.

Surely it's a hardware issue you should visit the service center

Exactly 👏

Camera failed warning means the lenses aren't connected properly with the motherboard. Put your phone into maintenance mode and visit the nearest Samsung service center to resolve the hardware issue.

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to mention that sometimes my phone's side button stops responding, but when I slap the phone pretty hard on my palm or a pillow, it starts working again. Even shaking it or hitting it against something soft brings it back.

Do you think this could mean the internal connections, like the camera to the motherboard, are loose or misaligned? Since both cameras aren’t working, I’m guessing it might be something similar?

You're welcome. The side button must be replaced.

I'm pretty sure about the camera not being connected properly with the main board, as this is not the first case. I've seen a lot of users, and after visiting the Samsung Center, they've been informed about that.

Note that slapping / dropping the phone harder can cause the camera failed warning  as I watched that on drop test on YouTube.

In some cases, wipe cache and data of the camera app might solve the issue other cases might not.

Thanks a lot, really helpful reply — and that video actually helped me understand the issue better. I tried the workaround with the long press on the camera icon, and surprisingly, the selfie camera and portrait mode work perfectly fine. It looks like the problem is only with the main rear sensor, not the entire camera system.

As long as I can use the portrait lens (even though it’s zoomed in a bit), I can manage for now. I’ll definitely keep your advice in mind and plan for a service center visit when it’s more convenient.

Appreciate your time and the solid explanation!👏
