the tempered glass will definitely cover the edges of the display. I know using our phone without tempered glass is so good...but ya for more safety use tempered glass.
U can on Flash notification in the setting. The phone flash light and the screen will blink for any new notifications.for the notification dot....you can download NOTIFY app from playstore. and setup custom notification dot on the screen.
