I could be impulsive on posting this but I'm doing it anyway. Everytime I updated from a major software update, I'd never experienced the battery drain that comes as a side effect, until now. After updating to One UI 8, I experienced the battery drain.
Now 'technically' the battery is supposed to recalibrate for a week or two before you see it go back to your idea of normal drain but for some that does not seem to be the case.
THE FIX:
Yesterday, I let my phone drain completely
Charged it to full while still off
Went into Recovery Mode to clear system cache
After the phone restart, I cleared the RAM(never done that before after clearing cache)
Today my battery drain is back to normal. I started this post as an impulse since I have 2 days left off the battery recalibration after an update but I think it's still worth a shot to the next person that might find this fix helpful. Let me know if the fix helped you or not.🙃
EDIT: How to get into Recovery Mode
Note that you first need to connect your phone to a computer or connect wired usb c earphones into the phone otherwise it won't work. Maybe connecting the phone to a TV may work as well, maybe.
Press volume up + power button at the same time and not let go until the blue menu pops up.
Use volume down to navigate to clear system cache, then use power button to select it and confirm
While the phone is off you press volume up + power button at the same time and not let go until you see a menu pop up. Then you use volume down to navigate to clear system cache and the power button to confirm, then you restart(reboot) the phone.
Note that you'll have to connect your phone to a computer or connect the wired usb c headphones to the phone for this step. I'll update the post to include this step.
