What you need to know

  • Samsung may debut the Galaxy Fit successor alongside the Galaxy Watch 3 next month.
  • An upcoming Samsung fitness tracker with a 154mAh battery has surfaced on the FCC website.
  • The rest of the features of the upcoming wearable remain a mystery at this point.

The Galaxy Watch 3 may not be the only new wearable that Samsung will be announcing at its Unpacked event on August 5. An upcoming Samsung wearable with the model number SM-R220 has surfaced in the FCC database (via The Verge).

Going by the model number and the label diagram included in the FCC listing, it looks like the wearable might be a successor to last year's Galaxy Fit or Fit e. The listing also reveals the upcoming wearable packs a 154mAh battery. In comparison, the Galaxy Fit features a 120mAh battery and the more affordable Fit e has a 70mAh battery.
Thanks to its larger battery, the upcoming wearable could be a more impressive alternative to fitness trackers such as the Fitbit Inspire HR. It is also likely to face some stiff competition from the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, which is slated to make its global debut later this month.
