I have been using galzxy buds fe for a month now and my assistant was gemini but when i update my A56 to One Ui 8, its now bixby which is way less smart then gemini and slower. I also can change it back. Also the fact that you can only control the buds on the setting **bleep**. The wearable app was better. Please change it back.

I wanna get Buds FE but I feel like it's a downgrade moving from Buds 2 and I don't use earphones that much.

Hi
A few things likely happened when you updated your Galaxy A56 to One UI 8:

1. Assistant switch

Samsung often resets the default assistant back to Bixby after a major One UI update.

On many devices, they’ve also started limiting direct integration with third-party assistants like Gemini (or Google Assistant).

That’s why your Buds FE long-press might now trigger Bixby instead of Gemini.

2. Galaxy Wearable app vs Settings

Samsung has been moving more Galaxy Buds controls into the system Settings instead of keeping everything in the Galaxy Wearable app.

This change is unpopular, since the app was faster and gave more customization, while the Settings version feels stripped down.

👉 What you can try:

Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps > Digital Assistant App and see if you can re-select Gemini.

In Galaxy Buds settings, check if long-press customization is still available (sometimes hidden under “Labs” or “Touch controls”).

If Samsung blocked Gemini integration on buds, the only workaround is using Gemini manually via voice or gestures on your phone—not through the buds button.

Unfortunately, Samsung’s recent updates are pushing Bixby more aggressively, and many users (not just you) are unhappy with it. The best you can do is send feedback through Samsung Members app—the more people complain, the more chance they’ll bring back Gemini/Google Assistant support and better wearable controls.
