Find my earbuds is greyed out

Please help

I lost my earbuds but when i google what to do everywhere it says i should be able to see the last location but "find my earbuds" is greyed out and i am not able to sleect it, i remeber a few months back i tested the function and it worked so why not now?

The buds battery is dead. I think that's why they are greyed-out.

But if they are out of range the battery should not make a difference because it does not have a build in gps, plus all the google posts says you should be able to see the last known location even if it is closed or the battery is dead, it would be the last known location your phone was close to your earbuds

The is a toggle that allows off-line finding
