WearablesImagine detecting fainting FIVE MINUTES IN ADVANCE!
• Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital, has successfully validated the use of Galaxy Watch6 biosignals to predict vasovagal syncope (VVS) with high accuracy.
• The study utilized the photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor on the Galaxy Watch6 to analyze heart rate variability (HRV) data with an AI algorithm, successfully predicting fainting episodes up to five minutes in advance.
• This groundbreaking research, published in the "European Heart Journal – Digital Health," achieved 84.6 percent accuracy in predicting syncope, marking the first time a commercial smartwatch has demonstrated this capability.
• Samsung aims to further enhance its wearable health monitoring features and collaborate with medical institutions to advance personalized, preventive health solutions.
