Hello samsung family.

I'm having trouble connecting esim to my galaxy watch 7 lte. I went to mtn but they said I must be on contract to connect to esim(im a prepaid user). Does anyone know how far true this is, also does anyone recommend any network provider so that I can put esim to my watch.

Thank you

Yeah, that’s pretty much how eSIMs work — you usually can’t get one without a contract, especially in South Africa. It’s kind of like “forced loyalty.” Most providers don’t bother explaining why, and staff usually aren’t keen on deep questions. But from how I see it, eSIMs were launched with premium users in mind — people on monthly plans who’d just pay and stay. Prepaid eSIMs do exist, but in SA the market is still growing, and networks probably don’t want the hassle of managing multiple eSIM profiles per person (some phones can store 8 or more). So they just make it easier to control by limiting it to postpaid users.

For this reason I usually stick to just Bluetooth versions of smartwatches, why do I need a Sim on a watch?... The watch is made to relay messages not get it's own separate messages

Maybe you have different reasons to why you want an esim on a watch, but Telkom has cheap data contracts so you can ask them for an esim (that's if MTN didn't lock the watch to its network in a way - - not sure if ISPs do thag nowadays)

Download Melon Mobile and/Airmobile Application from playstore on your mobile device.
Register and Rica your esim online.
Personally I use both on both mobile and wearable.
They both use Mtn Network
